As way to connect with our growing community, we continue to lead Guide workshops for parents and caregivers with children and adults with disabilities. We visit with support groups, parent groups, and other organizations in the disabilities community, so we can hear people’s concerns, questions, and perspectives firsthand.
Our next Guide workshop event is in Brighton, MA with Partners for Youth with Disabilities (PYD). Executive Director Jay O’Brien is thrilled to be welcomed back to PYD to present this workshop, for the first time since our official launch last November.
PYD is a Boston-based organization that supports people with disabilities, to help them reach their fullest potential. They provide mentoring programming, youth development opportunities, and inclusion expertise. We are happy to bring our Guides to those a part of PYD, to help with goal setting and planning for each individual.
Similar to other workshops that Exceptional Lives provides, parents and caregivers will learn about our free, online Guides and be able to ask questions directly to our team. This continues our efforts to individualize processes like special education, health insurance, and guardianship, amongst other complex topics addressed in our Guides. These workshops also show that we are here to help support these sometimes overwhelming times for families and loved ones.
Our Guide workshops serve as a way to encourage parents and caregivers to ask questions about their child’s needs, hear from others in similar situations, and open a dialogue about complex and sometimes difficult topics.
